Recipe for Dog Biscuits

Type:   Other
Ingredients:   2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup powdered dry milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
6 tablespoons shortening
1 beaten egg
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/2 cup ice water
Procedure:   Preheat oven to 350º.
Combine flour, dry milk, salt, and sugar. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles corn meal. Mix in egg. Add enough water so that mixture forms a ball.
Pat out dough until about 1/2" thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Pat out scraps and cut more shapes.
Bake for 25-30 minutes.

Variations:
Add 1 cup pureed cooked green vegetables or carrots.
Add 2-3 tablespoons liver powder (from health food store).
Yields:   20-25 dog biscuits
