Recipe for Tamale Pie (filling)

Type:   Dinner
Ingredients:   1 pound ground turkey
1 large onion finely chopped
1 large green pepper fine chopped
1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
1 can (28 oz.) diced tomatoes
16 oz. frozen corn
1 can (16 oz.) black beans
2 cloves minced garlic
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
black pepper to taste
1/2 cup Mexican blend cheese
Procedure:   Brown the turkey with the onions and green pepper. Add everything else and let thicken for 20 or 30 minutes.
Suggestions for serving:
Serve over tortillas or layer like a lasagna.
Put in a casserole dish and cover with corn bread mix that has been prepared. Bake until corn bread looks done.
Don't forget to use the cheese somehow.
Yields:   8 servings
