Recipe for Ashley's Oatmeal Cookies

Type:   Dessert
Ingredients:   1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup shortening (margarine or crisco)
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup oatmeal
Procedure:   Mix the sugars with the shortening.
Add vanilla, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Then add the egg. Add the oatmeal...don't use as much as called for in the recipe. Last, add the flour. (It works best if the flour and oatmeal are added together.)

Bake at 350º for 7 to 10 minutes.
Yields:   2 dozen
